Privacy Policy

Last updated November 7, 2026

This page explains what information rjcolebooks.com and the tools behind it collect, why, and what choices you have. R.J. Cole is the pen name of an independent author. I don't sell or rent your personal information to anyone.

Newsletter

If you join my newsletter, I collect the email address (and name, if you give it) you enter. I use it only to send you book news, updates and the extras you signed up for. Emails are sent through my own newsletter system and the email delivery service Brevo. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and you can unsubscribe at any time.

When you press a signup button, the address you typed is saved on my own server along with the time, which form you used and your browser type, even if the signup doesn't go through. That way, if something goes wrong, I can still send you what you asked for. I keep these records for 90 days and then delete them.

Website statistics

I run my own privacy-focused statistics on my own server to see how the site is used: which pages are visited, what people click, how far down a page they scroll, how far they read in a free chapter and where they leave, along with the country and the kind of device. Each visit gets a random number that lasts only until you close the tab. No cookies are used for this, and I don’t record your name, your email, your IP address or anything you type into a form. If your browser sends a “do not track” or Global Privacy Control signal, nothing is recorded. The information is kept for about a year. Umami, which also runs on my own server, still counts basic visits alongside it for now.

Facebook and Instagram ads

This site uses the Meta Pixel, a tool from Meta (Facebook and Instagram). It lets Meta measure whether my ads lead people to my site and helps show my ads to readers who may be interested. Meta may use cookies or similar technology for this. You can control how Meta uses this information in your Facebook or Instagram ad settings, and you can block cookies in your browser.

My ads may link through go.rjcolebooks.com, a link service I run myself that sends you to the right Amazon store for your country. It records the time, country, device type and which ad the click came from, so I can tell which ads work. It does not store your name or contact details, and visitors are counted using a scrambled identifier that can't be traced back to you.

Advertising tools

I use a private, internal app connected to Meta's Marketing API only to manage my own ad campaigns and read their performance reports. It does not collect information from readers or visitors.

Purchases

My books are sold through Amazon and other retailers. I never see or receive your payment details; those are handled entirely by the retailer under their own privacy policies.

Hosting and security

This site is delivered through Cloudflare, which may process basic technical information (such as IP address) to keep the site fast and secure.

Your choices

You can unsubscribe from emails at any time, block cookies in your browser, and adjust your ad preferences in your Meta account. To ask for a copy of the information I hold about you, or to have it deleted, email me and I'll take care of it.
